Key Takeaways

  • Willow & Stone, based at Arlington Highlands, offers Creyos cognitive testing to patients across Dallas–Fort Worth who are 10 or older.
  • Creyos results are read by Dr. Stacey Forbes, PMHNP-BC, as one part of a psychiatric evaluation, never as a stand-alone answer.
  • The fee, whether you take it in the office or at home, and how Texas insurance applies are confirmed when you book.
  • Creyos is a computerized cognitive assessment, not neuropsychological testing; if you need a full neuropsychological workup, we will tell you so.

If you live in Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas or anywhere between, you can now add a Creyos cognitive assessment to a psychiatric evaluation at Willow & Stone. Creyos is a set of short computer tasks that measure memory, attention, reasoning and verbal ability and compare your scores with people your age; the complete Creyos guide covers the tool itself. This page is about the local side: who books it here, how it fits a visit with Dr. Stacey Forbes, and the practical questions — cost, location, insurance — that our team confirms when you book.

Who books Creyos testing with us in DFW

What Creyos can and can’t do

It can

  • Give a measured snapshot of memory, attention, reasoning and verbal skills
  • Compare your scores with people your own age (norms from more than 85,000 people)
  • Set a baseline your clinician may repeat later and compare against
  • Add objective data to a conversation that is otherwise all self-report

It can’t

  • Diagnose ADHD, depression, dementia or any other condition
  • Replace a psychiatric evaluation or formal neuropsychological testing
  • Satisfy most school or workplace requirements for psychologist testing
  • Tell you on its own which treatment to choose

The people who ask for cognitive testing at our Arlington practice tend to fall into a few groups. Adults who have wondered about attention for years and want more than a checklist before an evaluation. Professionals whose memory or focus has slipped during a stressful stretch and who want to know whether the change is measurable. Parents of a teen whose grades dropped and who want a clearer picture alongside the psychiatric history. And patients already in care who want a reference point before a treatment change.

What these people share is a question about thinking that sits alongside a mental health question — attention and anxiety, memory and depression, focus and sleep. That overlap is where a psychiatric nurse practitioner's evaluation and a cognitive measure work well together. Willow & Stone sees patients 10 and older; that is practice policy. Creyos itself is age-normed from age 6, with 10–12, 13–15 and 16–17 bands (our parent guide covers younger patients in more detail).

How Creyos fits a visit with Dr. Forbes

Dr. Stacey Forbes, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. Her first evaluation at Willow & Stone is a 90-minute visit covering symptoms, history, sleep, medications, medical conditions and the things in daily life that shape all of them. Creyos adds a different kind of information to that conversation: how you actually performed on timed and untimed tasks, measured the same way for everyone.

The two are read together. A low attention score means one thing in someone with a lifelong pattern of distractibility and something else in someone who slept four hours, started a new medication last month, or is in the middle of a depressive episode. The scores do not decide anything on their own; they make the discussion more specific.

Exactly where the assessment falls in your care — before the first evaluation, after it, or at a later follow-up — and which tasks are included are details to ask our team about, since they depend on why you are being assessed. If you are coming in mainly for attention concerns, our Creyos and ADHD page explains what the task data can and cannot add.

In the Arlington office or from home

The office is at 3901 Arlington Highlands Blvd, Suite 200, Arlington, TX 76018, in the Arlington Highlands area, so it is a reasonable trip for many people in Tarrant and Dallas counties. Creyos was built to run either in a clinic or remotely through a secure link, and Creyos notes that someone taking it from home can have a support person, such as a parent, nearby.

Whether you will take it at our Arlington office, at home before a video visit, or have a choice is something to ask our team when you book. If you end up taking it at home, our preparation guide walks through device, room and timing.

Cost and Texas insurance: what is settled and what is not

Two Willow & Stone fees are public: the 90-minute first evaluation is $300 and follow-up visits are $150 (25–50 minutes). See our pricing page for what each includes.

The Creyos fee, and whether it is part of your $300 evaluation or billed separately, is confirmed when you book. For patients located in Texas, Willow & Stone accepts insurance, with coverage depending on the plan; whether your plan pays anything toward a Creyos assessment is a separate question, and you should ask our team before the visit so you are not surprised. Our cost and insurance guide explains the billing codes involved and why a code is not the same as coverage.

Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas: one office, several ADHD pages

Most people who search for cognitive testing locally are really asking about attention. If that is you, our city pages for ADHD treatment in Arlington, Fort Worth and Dallas describe the evaluation itself, and the longer Fort Worth ADHD guide covers what treatment looks like once a diagnosis is clear.

A note on Texas prescribing: if a stimulant medication turns out to be appropriate for a Texas patient, it is prescribed by the collaborating physician who works with Dr. Forbes, because Texas law limits nurse practitioners’ prescribing of Schedule II medications. Creyos results do not decide whether any medication is prescribed.

Patients who do not live near Arlington can still be seen anywhere in Texas by telehealth, and in the other states the practice serves. The online route has its own page, linked below.

What Creyos is not, and when we refer elsewhere

Creyos is registered and listed with the FDA as a Class II, 510(k)-exempt computerized cognitive assessment aid; it is not FDA-cleared or approved and does not diagnose any condition. It is a computerized cognitive assessment, not psychological or neuropsychological testing, which Willow & Stone does not provide. A neuropsychological evaluation is typically hours long, given by a psychologist, and produces a formal report; schools, courts and disability programs usually ask for that kind of testing. Our comparison page lays out the differences.

Creyos’s own interpretation guide notes that unexpectedly low results can be a reason to refer to a neuropsychologist or neurologist. If your results or history point that way, Dr. Forbes will say so and help you find the right next step rather than stretch a screening tool past what it does.

If you are struggling right now

Cognitive testing is not urgent care. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.

What happens after your assessment

Results come back as standard scores, where 100 is the average for your age and most people fall between roughly 85 and 115, plus flags that note whether a result may not be valid (for example, if you were interrupted). Dr. Forbes goes through them with you, task by task where it matters, and connects them to what you described in your history.

When that review happens after you finish, and whether it is a separate follow-up, are things to confirm when you book. Many patients find it helpful to read how to read a Creyos report beforehand so the numbers are familiar.

From there, the plan may involve treatment for a mood, anxiety or attention condition, labs to look for medical contributors, sleep changes, or a referral. Sometimes the useful result is reassurance: your scores sit in the average range and the focus problem is better explained by stress or sleep.

Common Questions

Where can I get Creyos cognitive testing in Arlington, TX?

Willow & Stone Integrative Mental Health offers Creyos as part of a psychiatric evaluation. The office is at 3901 Arlington Highlands Blvd, Suite 200, Arlington, TX 76018. Whether your assessment is taken in the office or at home is confirmed when you book.

Do you see patients from Fort Worth and Dallas?

Yes. Patients come from across Dallas–Fort Worth, and anyone located in Texas can also be seen by telehealth. The Creyos tasks themselves can run in a clinic or through a remote link; ask our team which applies to you.

Does Texas insurance cover Creyos testing?

Willow & Stone accepts insurance for Texas patients, depending on the plan. Whether your plan pays toward a Creyos assessment is a separate question: ask our team before your visit, and see our Creyos cost and insurance guide for the codes involved.

Is Creyos the same as neuropsychological testing?

No. Creyos is a computerized cognitive assessment of about a dozen short tasks. Neuropsychological testing is a longer evaluation by a psychologist with a formal report. Willow & Stone does not provide neuropsychological testing and will refer you if you need it.

Can Creyos tell me if I have ADHD?

No. Creyos measures attention, memory, reasoning and verbal skills and compares you with people your age. An ADHD diagnosis comes from a clinical evaluation of history and symptoms; Creyos scores are one input, and typical scores do not rule ADHD out.

How old do you have to be?

Willow & Stone sees patients 10 and older. Creyos has age norms from age 6, including 10–12, 13–15 and 16–17 bands, so the 10+ limit is the practice’s policy rather than a limit of the tool.
